All about the CCS

TO be most effective, one-on-one experiences such as coaching, counselling, mentoring, managing and active listening, require the facilitator to establish a ‘safe space’ for candid communication. A space in which the exchange is seen and felt to be between equals with the core purpose of understanding one another.

The CCS is ideal for creating this space quickly and easily. And we have a number of processes that can be combined or used alone to deliver superlative one-on-one experiences.

"The cards were a smashing hit in both Switzerland and Russia! 345 coaches from 24 countries in Switzerland. 22 people in St. Petersburg, Russia!"

Tim Pearson | Mindjazz

As a tool for one-on-one encounters the CCS offers a way to:

  • easily create a non-threatening and trusting atmosphere
  • improve listening, questioning and probing
  • encourage diversity, spontaneity and non-judgement
  • provide opportunities for deepening understanding and critical reflection
  • visually capture the outcomes from a session

    The CCS one-on-one processes include:

  • visual funnelling – a one-on-one process used to support an individual to articulate and discover their tacit thoughts on a subject. Recommended for coaching, mentoring and counselling.
  • cross of life – a template based one-on-one process that creates dialogue and understanding by having participants explore a range of life areas. It has applications in both coaching and peer-to-peer situations. The process also includes a CCS active listening technique known as visual paraphrasing.
  • building performance – a process for offering genuine praise and guiding a participant to identify areas for performance improvement. An excellent activity to help managers and leaders recognise and build an employee’s performance.
  • resolving conflict – this process offers a way for two people experiencing conflict to: thoughtfully raise their concerns, to actively listen to each other, to see common ground and to suggest possible solutions.

These proceses are detailed step-by-step in the One-on-one processes chapter of the CCS Facilitators Manual 2nd Ed (included with all CCS master kits).

"We know each other really well, but this brought out so many extra insights. It was a real bonding experience."
