Focus Groups
Using the CCS for Focus Groups
Focus groups are best performed in a friendly, non-threatening environment supported by focused thinking.
How does the CCS help?
Using the CCS process in Focus Groups will help in 4 ways.
Thought transfer – it shifts the participant's thoughts from what they were doing before the focus group session began, to the purpose of the session.
Atmosphere – it creates a safe, warm atmosphere between participants and the moderator to foster participation and communication.
Meet - it gives participants a chance to meet and learn a little more about each other – often making it easier for them to speak in front of one another.
Sets tone and expectation – it immediately sets an open and honest tone, with the expectation that everyone's input is essential AND that it is OK for everyone to have different thoughts and feelings.
